Kokayi - Track a day for 2014 #USA
My friend Kokayi is def one of the best Mc's I've ever been blessed to work with. He's also an incredible educator, Grammy nominated artist and producer who's been making tons of beats for years. Take a look to his latest project that also Washington City Paper has been writing about and listen to that here.

33RPM, VOICES OF THE REVOLUTION - New Compilation #WORLDWIDE
--- MEDIA RELEASE ---
33RPM – VOICES OF THE REVOLUTION
http://33rpmvoices.bandcamp.com/album/33rpm-voices-of-the-revolution | #33rpmvoices
A digital album of ground-breaking revolutionary and political music featuring songs written and produced by a line-up of artists from 33 countries, including Egypt, Syria and Somalia, will be available as a free download from Monday 14 October 2013.
33RPM - Voices of the Revolution presents contributions from the internationally-renowned Sudanese recording artist, activist and former child soldier Emmanuel Jal, Syrian-American MC Omar Offendum, enchanting Chilean folk-rock star Camila Moreno, pioneering Egyptian rapper Zap Tharwat, Italian Hip-Hop group Zero Plastica and leading British performance poet Dean Atta amongst others.
The collection of songs chronicles oppression, uprisings, land rights issues, political and social abuses and acts of revolution, such as the anti-militant track ‘No to Al-Shabab’ by Somali hip hop collective Waayaha Cusub, a dedication to children in conflict zones around the world by India’s alt-rock band Imphal Talkies in ‘Lullaby’, and the Arab Spring anthem ‘Kelmti Horra (My Word Is Free)’ by Tunisian singer-songwriter and “Fairuz of her generation” Emel Mathlouthi.
Drawn directly from the experiences of established and emerging artists representing over 33 countries across 5 continents, the album offers a striking snapshot of places of conflict, war, oppression, resistance and revolution shared through diverse styles and genres of music including Afrofuturismo, soulful New Zealand reggae, Electro Caribe, Malian hip hop and Iranian electronica.
33RPM – Voices of the Revolution was officially launched by Emmanuel Jal at Imperial War Museum North (Manchester, UK) on Sunday 13 October 2013, as part of the Manchester Weekender and IWM’s Catalyst: Contemporary Art and War exhibition.
“It's amazing to be part of this project that brings thirty three artists together from different parts of our world, from thirty three different countries to combine strong voices and bring them together to echo and amplify, and to shine a spotlight on dark places so evil can perform less.”
– Emmanuel Jal
The project is also supported by the In Place of War research centre at the University of Manchester (UK).
“Un-Convention and In Place of War are organisations dedicated to telling the stories of artists from sites of conflict, revolution and communities at conflict across the globe. We are delighted to have brought together such an incredible selection of revolutionary voices spanning the globe through the 33RPM release. The music is groundbreaking, politicised and socially conscious. We hope that this release will amplify the voices of the artists.”
– Ruth Daniel, Un-Convention

Antifascist MC killed by nazis in # GREECE
On the night of September 17th, a 34-year-old man died in the early hours of Wednesday morning after he was attacked by a neonazi (member of Golden Dawn) and subsequently stabbed in Piraeus. The victim has been named as Pavlos Fyssas (who went by the stage name of Killah P.), a hip-hopper involved in the antifascist scene, organising anti-racist concerts and other social activities in the area where he lived. He was stabbed in the chest outside a café at 60 Panayi Tsaldari Avenue in Amfiali, in the Keratsini district of Piraeus, shortly after midnight by a group of neonazis dressed in black and camouflage uniforms. The name of the 45-year murderer of Fyssas appears to be Giorgos Roupakias.
More specifically, Pavlos’ friends made a remark against Golden Dawn inside a cafe where they were watching a football match. Somebody from a nearby table overheard them and made a phonecall to Golden Dawn members. Golden Dawn squads arrived almost simultaneously with DIAS motorbike police. Pavlos tried to help his friends evade the scene, but he was ambushed by another Golden Dawn squad and surrounded. Then another Golden Dawn associate drove with his car opposite in an one-way street, stopped and stabbed him to death, while the DIAS policemen did not intervene. One girl asked them to help but they didn’t. They only approached afterwards to arrest the man with the main suspect.
Pavlos was taken to Tzanio hospital, where he died shortly afterwards. Before he died, he managed to identify the perpetrator and his accomplices, according to reports.
A call for a gathering on the spot of his assassination was made for today, Wednesday 18:00, on 60, P. Tsaldari street (from Athens, via public bus B18 from Ralli-Salaminas, or Γ18 from Gr. Lampraki, from Piraeus via public bus 824 or 826). There are also calls for demonstrations in Thessaloniki: 10:00 in the teachers demo, 16:00 in Physics dept. in AUTH university campus, 18:00 demonstration from “Kamara” on Egnatia street. In Mytilene, Lesbos island, 18:00 on Sappho square, in Patras, 10:00 on Olga square, in Larissa 10:00 in the 1rst Lyceum and 10:30 in the teachers’ demo, in Komotini and many other towns there also demos on 18:00.
Right now friends of the victim are paying tribute to him on his Facebook page whilst the office of Golden Dawn in Patra is also under attack; it was attacked with molotov cocktails and there are stones hurdled toward the building right now. In the same city, another suspicious event took place: a Golden Dawn sympathizer approached the antifascist bloc pointing his pistol. Similarly in Chania, protesters attacked the office of the neonazi party and clashed with the police.

"Home" - Nomadic Wax's audio documentary mixed by Dj Boo #U.S.A. #WorldWide
Project Synopsis/Description:
Home is a musical conversation on the global struggle for housing.
Original verses and tracks on the subject from artists all over the
world are expertly mixed together with first-person testimonies from the
United States and South Africa. Seamlessly mixed together by Dj Boo,
this audio documentary aims to highlight a series of issues in the
struggle for homes: inadequate access to employment and healthcare, war,
displacement, gentrification, immigration, eviction, lack of services,
homelessness and the foreclosure crisis, to name a few. Pieces of
conversation weave in and out between songs, verses, and the production
of political hip hop heavyweights the Cornel West theory, grounding the
music in lived experience, offering an intimate glimpse into the
perspective of everyday people fighting for their homes.

From O.G. to Rasta Man: Snoop smokes weed everyday anyway #Jamaica #Usa
I've just watched "Reincarnated", the documentary about Snoop's transition from Dogg to Lion... I think this flick need to be watched by all Snoop's long time fans, especially the ones that have been fascinated by his old gangsta life. Don't want to be provocative, but I do really believe that this doggumentary must be watched in all the HIGH schools of the world. Very inspiring.
Outspoken & The Essence #Zimbabwe
Outspoken & The Essence Present: The Slave Master’s Whip
Outspoken Tha Humble Neophyte, lyrical wordsmith, cultural activist, and community organizer has been at the forefront of Zimbabwe's hip-hop movement, as made evident through his freshly dropped single 'The Slave Master's Whip.'
This track is an introduction to Outspoken & The Essence and the group's own interpretation of hip-hop. It is a conversation starter to the double album release, which will come out on May 16 (2013). The track speaks on rapper Outspoken's influences growing up and where his focus remains today. 'The SlaveMasters Whip' represents the duality of taking control of his own future, but in doing so, inevitably having that future control him; drive and determination thus becoming his own master.
Outspoken & The Essence is a Afro Rhythm inspired hip-hop band with Outspoken as a Poet/Emcee frontman who manipulates his voice as another dimension to the instrumentation (which is really just a fancy way of saying that he also sings on most of the tracks…). The band consists of Drum, Bass Guitar, Lead Guitar, Sparse Violin and Horns and Vocalists. Since being formed in 2007, the group has performed in many festivals in Southern Africa. Frontman Outspoken has also travelled elsewhere in Africa, Europe and the United States performing and workshopping on spoken word.
